The French Institute Alliance Française here in NYC does year-round programming to salivate over, but this upcoming event's got me even more primed than usual - on April 6th they're screening a newly restored print of the 1927 masterpiece Wings (the first film to win Best Picture, and it really does hold up) with a live score from the musicians Baudime Jam and the Prima Vista Quartet. You can get tickets (they're free!) right here. All that plus Charles "Buddy" Rogers & Richard Arlen making good better best buddies on the big screen? And a young Gary Cooper too? Sign me up.
