I know it's kind of a depressing day for those of us who love Call Me By Your Name, after seeing it all get shut out at the Globes last night, and that's fine - even with my cynicism towards awards shows I too would love to see glittering golden statues in the hands of every single person who gave us this astonishing piece of art. But the art is astonishing and the art is forever, and that is the most important thing. Hold this beautiful movie close to your heart and cherish it, no matter what happens over the next couple of months. The way it makes you feel, the wisdom it imparts, that has already changed you and become a part of you. One day twenty years from now you're going to be walking through a park and see the sunlight catch something and there you'll be, back "Somewhere in Northern Italy" again, with Sufjan singing inside your head and Elio and Oliver standing before you, reenacting their timeless romance...
