... you can learn from:
The Orphanage(2007)
A happy 43 to the director J.A. Bayona today! I haven't seen The Orphanage since it came out but I remember being somewhat disappointed with it, after all the early raves (here's my old review) - that said I'd be curious to watch it again, see how it strikes me now. I've really loved everything Bayona has done since that movie...
... and speaking of I just saw the latest trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom before Infinity War and... I might actually be optimistic? I didn't love Trevorrow's 2015 film at all - I haven't even bothered re-watching it, and if you know of my bone-deep affection for the Jurassic franchise (I saw the 1993 film in the theaters fifteen times) then you know what a slippage that represents.
But Bayona's already proven himself to be ten times the director Trevorrow has, and the latest trailer improved ten-fold on the first trailer (which was kind of groan-worthy) by painting the entire thing as a straight-up horror flick. It's like the tree-monster from Bayona's masterful A Monster Calls has gone murderously rogue and I am one hundred percent into it. Watch:

Are you guys optimistic for Fallen Kingdom?
