Knife + Heartthat I've been crowing about ever
since it played Cannes last spring, and doubly so since I saw it (
and reviewed it) last October, is finally hitting some theaters this weekend -- I know of two here in New York and I assume it's hitting L.A. as well since that's how these things normally occur. Anyway the movie is fab and I highly recommend it and it was only last week that I realized one of the film's imperiled trade twinks (is there a better gay word for that? I am so out of the loop) is the same actor who stars in another buzzy gay movie of 2019, the one called
Sauvage...
... which
I posted the trailer for a couple of weeks ago.
Sauvage is playing the US (probably the same coastal cities) on April 10th, so we should acquaint ourselves with this sudden gay somebody -- his name is
Félix Maritaud, and you might already recognize him from the immediate queer classic
B.P.M. (Beats Per Minute)which came out in 2017. (I reviewed that
right here.) He was one of the main characters, although to be honest I am always highly focused on Arnaud Valois whenever I watch that movie so I can't really remember his arc. Guess it's time for a re-watch!
All three of these films that Maritaud's done so far have gotten a lot of attention, at least as far as the insular world of queer movies go -- it's quite the track record, anyway. Point being IMDb only has him attached to some short films as of now but I assume that will probably change real soon. We'll keep our eyes peeled! Until then let's keep our eyes busy with a gallery of several dozen photos of Mr. Maritaud
